About This Opportunity

Black & McDonald's Electrical ICI Construction team is seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Project Manager. This position is ideal for an independent, enthusiastic, and driven individual looking to build a solid foundation for their career.

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating assigned projects from start to finish, in accordance with schedule, specifications, and budget. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership for assigned projects in regards to cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contract performance
  • Establishing project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards as per company policy and contract specifications
  • Establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with all stakeholders, including Black & McDonald team members, clients, consultants, joint venture partners, trades, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and the community
  • Planning, preparing, monitoring, and managing construction schedules and milestones
  • Ensuring work is performed in compliance with applicable standards, including HSE regulations, company policies and procedures, and contract requirements
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress, labour productivity, work outcomes, budget, cost, and forecast
  • Preparing and submitting project estimates and negotiating all changes in scope as required
  • Preparing contracts and negotiating revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants
  • Reviewing work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correcting deficiencies
  • Ensuring material and equipment are available to tradespersons
  • Ensuring monthly cost forecasting and checklists are completed accurately and on time
  • Ensuring accurate productivity reports are completed weekly

Education Requirements

An education in:

  • Project Management
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Construction Management
  • A red seal electrical journeyperson

Work Experience Requirements

5+ years of Project Management experience in the unionized construction company working on large-scale electrical ICI projects

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

Intermediate knowledge and understanding of:

  • Construction estimation, scheduling, planning, and execution
  • Project design interpretation
  • Established division practices, procedures, and techniques
  • Business operations processes
  • Organization and time management

Intermediate user of:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Use of Accubid is considered an asset
  • JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP system is an asset
