About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Land Use Planner to join our dynamic team at Parsons Corporation. As a key member of our Critical Infrastructure team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our communities by designing and delivering critical infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the completion of area, site, and corridor land use studies and master plans, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and excellence.
  • Develop and implement policy analyses, planning rationales, and feasibility studies that inform our project decisions and drive business growth.
  • Manage a variety of planning applications, including Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments, Site Plan Control, Plans of Subdivision, Severances, and Minor Variances, ensuring that they are processed efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepare and present materials to clients and/or public meetings, committees, and councils, effectively communicating our vision and expertise.
  • Prepare environmental assessment studies, including evaluation of alternatives, as a land use and policy subject matter expert, ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
  • Coordinate with municipal, provincial, and federal staff, as well as other approval agencies, to secure necessary approvals and permits.
  • Negotiate or assist in negotiating relevant agreements and conditions, ensuring that our projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Prepare illustrative graphics and presentations that effectively communicate our vision and expertise.
  • Develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies, participating in public meetings and ensuring that our projects are well-received by the community.
Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in Planning or a related field, with a preference for individuals with a graduate degree in planning.
  • A minimum of 7 years of related and progressive experience in land use planning, with a strong understanding of the land development process and land use and infrastructure planning in Ontario.
  • A positive attitude towards work, colleagues, and a supportive team environment.
  • A working knowledge of land development process and land use and infrastructure planning in Ontario.
  • Strong initiative, independence, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take ownership of projects and see them through from start to finish.
  • An interest in transit-oriented development, urban mobility, urban design, and place-making.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and visual design software programs.
  • Experience or interest in managing or coordinating complicated projects.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners.
