Job Summary

ON LTD is seeking a skilled Early Childhood Educator to lead child care programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. This permanent position offers a rewarding opportunity to work with toddlers to preschool-age children in a child care centre setting.



Key Responsibilities

  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, ensuring their basic needs are met.
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that cater to the diverse needs of children, promoting their overall growth and development.
  • Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest standard of care.
  • Lead activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and taking children on local outings, fostering a love for learning and exploration.
  • Order supplies and equipment, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation of the child care centre.
  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations.
  • Encourage children to express their creativity through various mediums, such as art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Engage children in activities, promoting socialization, emotional intelligence, and cognitive development.
  • Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, promoting independence and self-care.
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems, preparing reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • Establish guidelines for behavior, promoting a positive and respectful environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss progress and challenges, ensuring open communication and collaboration.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers, promoting a supportive network.
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, adhering to licensing regulations and best practices.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.


Requirements

  • Emergency child care first aid and CPR certification.
  • Food allergy and anaphylaxis training.
  • Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • CPR Certificate.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with behavioral issues or allergies.
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations and best practices in early childhood education.


Working Conditions

  • Physically demanding, requiring a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Repetitive tasks, including bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Manual dexterity, requiring fine motor skills.
