Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Educational Interpreter to join our team at Natrona County School. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating communication between students who are deaf and/or hard of hearing and their teachers, as well as assisting students with daily activities and providing voice to sign and sign to voice support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a resource to special education staff to support students and staff.
  • Assist regular education staff in orienting them to the functions of an interpreter.
  • Modify classroom logistics to meet the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Interpret or transliterate all language necessary during classroom instruction to facilitate effective communication.
  • Maintain a daily notebook/log to report student progress on objectives and daily work.
  • Monitor individual students to provide assistance as needed and ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in meetings to receive and/or convey information related to the general goals of education to parents and/or students who may be deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Prepare for daily classroom lectures and activities to provide a learning environment that meets the differing needs of students for learning outcomes.
  • Provide support/tutoring to students who are deaf or hard of hearing to facilitate communication and/or reinforce classroom objectives under the direct supervision of the teacher of the deaf/hard of hearing.
  • Provide students who are deaf or hard of hearing with equal access to academic and nonacademic activities, individually or in groups.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Certification by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability.
