Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Mental Health Inpatient Psychiatry department at North York General Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide excellent patient and family driven care in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to assess, educate, prevent, maintain, and restore patient health
  • Provide patient and family centered care, with a focus on mental health and wellness
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, volunteers, and families
  • Think critically and make decisions to prioritize patient care demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Embody a commitment to ongoing learning, professional development, and continuous quality improvement

Requirements

  • Registered Practical Nursing diploma from a recognized Community College
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (BCLS)
  • Current Medication Certificate
  • Certification in Crisis Intervention by Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), preferred
  • Certificate in Mental Health Nursing from a recognized community college, preferred
  • Minimum 2 years' experience, preferred
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset

This is a Part Time Regular position, with 8 hour shifts, night shifts, including weekends in the Mental Health Inpatient Psychiatry department.
