About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Regional Mechanical Design Engineer to lead our Mechanical Engineering team in British Columbia. As a senior technical advisor, you will mentor junior staff and be responsible for developing new business, growing a specialized team of technical professionals, and helping our operations remain competitive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial and Administrative Responsibilities
    • Develop and manage division budgets to ensure financial targets are met
    • Track monthly division performance, including client satisfaction, revenue, and profit
    • Oversee the preparation of contract documents to company standards
  • Leadership and Staff Supervision
    • Ensure the well-being and safety of employees at work sites
    • Supervise employees and monitor their job proficiency and quality
    • Mentor and supervise senior, intermediate, and junior level staff
    • Review technical reports and provide feedback
  • Coordination of Project Activities
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory body representatives
    • Develop schedules and assign work to employees as appropriate
    • Coordinate work and client contacts with other groups within the company
  • Business Development
    • Engage in business development and build and maintain client relationships
    • Monitor industry trends and provide presentations and/or seminars as required to promote the company's profile
  • Maintaining Quality Control
    • Review the work of employees and colleagues to ensure it meets established standards
    • Making suggestions to continually improve work quality, for both self and team
Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of mechanical design experience working on medium to large scale, commercial and residential projects in the province of British Columbia
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with The Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
  • Demonstrated experience developing business and client relationships in relevant industries within the BC market
  • Previous consulting experience is a must for this role
  • 5 plus years of proven experience in managing operations, including resource planning, budgeting, and process optimization
  • Strong client relationship management skills with a demonstrated ability to develop new and grow existing relationships
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication and technical writing skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team
  • Proficiency in project management software, AutoCAD, IES, Trace software, and other relevant tools
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various client sites locally and to adjacent provinces
