About the Job:

The Nurse Care Specialist at Interior Health Authority provides high-quality nursing care to stroke patients, working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. This role involves following patients throughout their hospital journey and enhancing their quality of life and that of their families.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing nursing care to stroke patients, following evidence-based practice and continuous improvement principles

Enhancing quality of life for patients and families, consulting with other healthcare providers as needed

Maintaining and advancing clinical competence, participating in designated hospital committees and research projects

Providing stroke-related education for patients, families, and healthcare providers

Delivering interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration for coordination of stroke care

Supporting adoption and adherence to stroke best-practices

Identifying and communicating stroke-related patient safety issues or concerns

Supporting clinical uptake of stroke-related processes and improvement work

Providing orientation to new staff and supporting bedside nurses

This is a casual opportunity, meaning hours are not guaranteed and may vary, with shifts scheduled during the day from 07:00 to 18:10 hours.

Interior Health has expanded its services to meet increasing demands, enhance patient care, and provide more space for patient beds. The Centennial Patient Care Tower, completed in 2012, features an expanded emergency department, ambulatory care department, and psychiatric unit. Kelowna General Hospital is home to the University of BC Medical School's clinical academic campus.
