New Brunswick Power Corp is seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead our projects forward.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a leadership role within construction projects, with a strong background in project management principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring timely completion and meeting client expectations.
  • Coordinate activities of team members and stakeholders to achieve project goals, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project execution plans, including development of project scope, schedule, and budget, taking into account input from project stakeholders as necessary.
  • Ensure the project scope, schedule, and budget are managed and communicated effectively to all team members, minimizing variances and issues.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with project stakeholders, keeping them informed of progress and addressing any concerns or questions.
  • Address project issues promptly, applying problem-solving skills and creative thinking to find solutions.
  • Track progress of the project against the baseline schedule and budget, identifying and addressing variances and taking corrective action as needed.
  • Manage project risk assessment, coordinate periodic risk reviews, and prepare risk management plans as necessary, maintaining a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Manage change requests to scope, schedule, or budget, ensuring that changes are properly assessed, approved, and implemented.
  • Prepare regular project reports, including costs, schedule, safety, and risk, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain records of correspondence and files as appropriate for the project, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Conducts project closeout procedures, including financial closeout, documentation wrap-up, and benefits realization reporting, ensuring a smooth transition and closure of the project.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in a leadership role within construction projects.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in an industrial environment.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Relevant experience in the electrical utility sector, with preference given to NB Power project management specific experience.
  • Experience in schedule development, cost estimation, cost control, risk management, contract administration, and construction management.
  • Engineering Technologist Diploma or University degree in Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in the Electrical discipline but other disciplines will be considered.
  • Formal training in project management would be considered an asset.
  • Certification as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or as a Project Management Professional (PMP), or working towards either certification, would be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in document creation and editing (Microsoft Office Products such as Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Excel).
  • Proficiency with Primavera and/or Microsoft Project would be considered an asset.
