Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor to join our team at New Flyer. As a key member of our manufacturing engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting all manufacturing engineering activities within assigned manufacturing cells, including implementing and facilitating lean manufacturing initiatives, reviewing engineering change orders, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide manufacturing engineering supervision to ensure that manufacturing cells are appropriately supported.
  • Work effectively as a team member to ensure operational metrics are achieved and any remedial action is actively pursued.
  • Design or specify equipment, tooling, and racking required to support manufacturing.
  • Review and implement engineering change orders within assigned cells or option groups.
  • Assign default locators to all parts within assigned manufacturing cells.
  • Create shop floor instructions and train personnel on standards.
  • Update and maintain layouts, including plant and cell layouts, inventory, housekeeping, emergency, and security maps.
  • Specify and facilitate capital and equipment upgrades, installations, or modifications.
  • Implement and facilitate lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, value stream mapping, and set-up reduction.
  • Promote an environment of continuous improvement and teamwork.
  • Lead or participate in SWAT team meetings to resolve issues.
  • Conduct process observations to ensure assigned time standards are fair and consistent.
  • Maintain necessary resource plans to ensure production activities are adequately resourced.
  • Validate routings and submit routing change requests to process planning.
  • Conduct contract reviews to ensure production preparedness.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree and/or related courses and work experience.
  • Lean certification or equivalent experience required.
  • Superior computer and organizational skills.
  • Goal-oriented and motivated to achieve tasks within set timelines.
  • Well-versed in AutoCAD.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment an asset.
  • Knowledgeable in Unigraphics and Oracle an asset.
