About the Role

The Home Support Worker (HSW) plays a vital role in our community, providing holistic and quality care to our residents. This position requires a compassionate and empathetic individual who is committed to delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement personal service plans to meet the unique needs of each resident.
  • Provide personal care services, including medication assistance, bathing, grooming, and dressing, as well as assisting with meals and oral hygiene.
  • Respond promptly to call bell alarms and provide timely support to residents.
  • Monitor residents' progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, reporting any significant observations to the Assisted Living Clinical Manager.
  • Encourage residents to participate in social, physical, spiritual, and recreational activities, promoting their overall well-being.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community policies and procedures, including emergency procedures and safe work practices.
  • Attend and participate in community and education programs, staying current with the latest developments in the field.
  • Perform night shift duties, including housekeeping tasks as outlined in the night routine.
  • Collaborate positively and effectively with all team members and supervisors, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Graduate from a recognized Care Aide Program.
  • An active registration with the British Columbia Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Valid First Aid Level 1 certification and current CPR.
  • Medication Administration Certification required.
  • Previous experience in a care community preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently, with a strong understanding of verbal and written instructions.
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
  • Must be in good health, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand, and walk as required to perform the duties of the position.
