Job Summary:
The Manager of Emergency Management will lead our team of dynamic professionals in the Office of Campus Safety. Reporting to the Director, Campus Safety, this role is responsible for the overall planning and development of the College emergency management and recovery framework. This includes advancing prevention, mitigation, response, and recovery elements of emergency management in accordance with industry standards.
The incumbent provides guidance and input in College departments and processes related to the development of prevention and mitigation measures. They actively contribute to business continuity planning processes and play an active role with the Emergency Management Response Team (EMRT), the emergency operations centre (EOC), and the Emergency Mass Communication Tool (EMCT) in responding to campus emergencies.
The Manager, Emergency Management plans, develops, and implements training, awareness, and exercise activities at all levels within the College community to continually improve corporate, student, and staff preparedness. They are also responsible for the oversight and operation of the Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) and develop procedures and documentation in support of the CERT framework.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the College emergency management plan and supporting infrastructure
- Coordinate departmental response plans
- Provide guidance and input in College departments and processes related to prevention and mitigation measures
- Contribute to business continuity planning processes
- Oversight and operation of the Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT)
- Development of procedures and documentation in support of the CERT framework
- Planning, development, and implementation of training, awareness, and exercise activities
Requirements:
- Minimum of a 4-year undergraduate degree in Emergency Management or a related field; a Master's degree would be considered an asset
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a planning and policy role with similar organizational scope, previous specialized service in emergency response/emergency management, and experience managing complex objectives with multi-disciplinary components
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all matters related to students, staffing, and programming
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills, with demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and the ability to work effectively in crisis situations
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communications skills, and a proven ability to work well with clients and colleagues
- Experience with Alertus systems is an asset
- Experience in the education sector is also considered an asset
Salary: Band 12: $99,792 - $133,056
