Job Title: Pipe Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Pipe Fitter to join our team at Meridian Marine Industries Inc. as a key member of our pipe installation team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems in various locations, including commercial, industrial, and residential settings. This is a physically demanding role that requires attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in wet/damp environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install sprinkler heads and mount prepared pipe in supports
  • Select, measure, cut, ream, and thread pipe
  • Schedule materials, tools, and personnel
  • Liaise with management, engineers, and other trades
  • Prepare tenders and quotations
  • Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors, and control equipment
  • Install clamps, brackets, and hangers to support piping system and sprinkler and fire protection equipment, using hand and power tools
  • Install valves, alarms, and associated equipment
  • Join pipes and piping sections using soldering and welding equipment
  • Service and repair sprinkler system
  • Supervise other workers
  • Test system for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment
  • Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
  • Install supports, valves, piping, and control systems
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required shape and size
  • Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
  • Select type and size of pipe required
  • Test system for leaks using testing equipment
  • Weld, braze, cement, solder, and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience
  • Or equivalent experience
Work Environment:

The successful candidate will work in a variety of locations, including commercial, industrial, and residential settings. The work environment will be physically demanding, with regular exposure to heights, confined spaces, and wet/damp environments.
