Accounting Analyst

Become a key member of our finance team at Sofina Foods, working closely with the Controller to efficiently compile accurate information, analyze data, and facilitate financial reporting to meet internal, external, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze capital, inventory, and sales-related journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Manage the internal capital approval process, working with cross-functional departments, checking for accuracy and completeness, tracking status, and calculating ROI on projects.
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute required reporting with precision.
  • Lead product traceability under Recall Plan and Business Continuity.
  • Ensure the accuracy of QMG vs. 3rd Party Inventory systems and investigate and reconcile all variances.
  • Manage and analyze inventory balance sheet reconciliations for packaging/dry goods, WIP, and FG.
  • Investigate inventory variances by working closely with shipping/planning, making necessary adjustments daily/weekly as required.
  • Perform Month End reporting Meat Variance, Dry Goods, Dry good Turnover reports.
  • Validate CN/DN and make necessary adjustments in inventory to reflect any customer returns.
  • Manage and update product costing within QMG.
  • Analyze and prepare value-added journal entries and related reports for distributed Operational reporting.
  • Populate, analyze, and distribute weekly reports: Credit Note Reports, Sales Analysis, Destroyed product ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Process and investigate destroyed products in QMG.
  • Manage Quarter and Year-end inventory counts, onsite, and with travel to 3rd Party warehouses.
  • Provide support for absences with the finance team when necessary.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on diverse initiatives, ensuring continual analysis and identifying and implementing improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for external audit requirements through the preparation of accurate working papers.
  • Other ad hoc projects and analysis as assigned.

Requirements:

A Diploma/Degree in Accounting or Finance with 5-10 years of progressive experience in admin, accounting/costing, analysis, with experience in a manufacturing environment.

Successful completion of an Accounting designation (CPA) preferred.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (advanced level in MS Excel) and other Windows Applications.

Working knowledge of financial/operational database ERP systems (experience with AS400 is considered an asset).

Achieves success when working independently and is a proven team player.

Ability to prioritize competing demands through excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.

An enthusiastic, process-oriented, self-starter who ensures accuracy with the utmost regard to confidentiality.
