Engineering Program Manager Job Description

As a key member of the Waterford Executive Management Team, the Engineering Program Manager will lead and develop standards and strategies for our technical programs on site. This role will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, infrastructure improvements, and equipment upgrades, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement project management standards and tools to ensure efficient project delivery.
  2. Lead, coach, and mentor technical and capital projects teams to achieve project goals and objectives.
  3. Collaborate with other departments, such as R&D, production, finance, and quality, to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions into the overall business processes.
  4. Effectively allocate resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to optimize productivity and achieve project goals.
  5. Identify potential risks and challenges in engineering projects and develop proactive strategies to mitigate them.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in engineering or technical management roles.
  • Experience in pyrotechnics or explosives (manufacturing, use, or design) would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with MS Teams, O365, Excel.
  • Experience with regulatory agencies, including MECP, NRC-ERD, MOL, Health Canada, MOL, WSIB, and others.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • LEAN, 6Sigma, or TPM experience and qualifications would be considered an asset.

The position requires minimum intermediate proficiency in English in each of three language skills: Reading, Writing, and Oral Interaction.
