As a Quality Control Technician with BWXT Canada Ltd., you will play a critical role in ensuring adherence to quality program requirements on Field Services projects. This includes providing independent verification of quality-related inspections and working under technical supervision and guidance.

Job Structure and Communications

  • This position reports directly to the Quality Control Manager.
  • You may have oversight of a small group of Quality Control Technicians.

Accountabilities

  • You will undertake moderately complex technical assignments in support of ongoing quality programs.
  • Key responsibilities include monitoring processes via MITPs, verifying procedures are followed during project execution, maintaining training records electronically or on paper, and performing NDE-related responsibilities where union jurisdictions allow.
  • Work may be performed in a radiological environment, requiring your ability to work safely and efficiently.
  • You will also perform material receipt and in-process inspections to ensure compliance with BWXT standards, technical specifications, and the ASME code.
  • Assist with reviewing and completing Work Packages/History Dockets and assisting with procedure and MITP reviews.
  • Perform vendor source inspections as required.

Knowledge and Experience

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in NDE/Quality Technology or a related field is required.
  • You must have at least 3-5 years of industry experience, with CGSB Liquid Penetrant Level 2 Certification.
  • CGSB Level 2 Certification in other NDE methods would be an asset, as would CWB Level 1 or 2 Certification.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and radiation environments, with extensive site work/travel (up to 70%) and willingness to work nights, weekends, and Statutory Holidays.
  • You must be able to work effectively in a group atmosphere and independently.
