About the Role

The University Health Network is seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing Magnetic Resonance imaging procedures, ensuring MRI Safety Standards are followed, and operating and troubleshooting medical imaging equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Magnetic Resonance imaging procedures as outlined in the protocol/procedure manuals
  • Ensure MRI Safety Standards of practice are followed at all times
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and ensure safe functioning of medical imaging and ancillary equipment
  • Prepare written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results
  • Perform other related patient care responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care
  • Attend meetings as necessary and be responsible for teaching, training, educational, research, safety, and quality improvement programs/activities
  • Observe and understand Hospital and departmental policies and procedures and contribute to imaging policies and procedures that will result in improvements in technical quality
  • Adhere to Hospital and departmental mission and value statements while maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Perform cross-functional/site responsibilities as assigned, including call, evening, weekend, or night shifts

Requirements

  • Certification by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), current membership, preferred
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) and fulfilling the annual required continuing education as per CMRITO
  • Completion of a Basic Life Support (BLS) program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification, with maintenance of certification
  • Cross-sectional Anatomy course, required
  • Contrast injection course, required
  • Completion of clinical component of relevant accredited medical imaging academic program, or equivalent education as assessed by CAMRT and CMRITO
  • One (1) or more years of recent clinical MRI experience preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity towards patients in a challenging situation
  • Demonstrated strong inter-professional and collaborative approach to practice
  • Demonstrated good judgment to ensure work is always performed in the best interest and safety of the patient and the team
  • Ability to work accurately, safely, and efficiently in a fast-paced, high patient volume setting, especially how to accommodate unexpected situations
  • Ability to evaluate your quality of work and use constructive feedback to inform reflective practice
  • Ability to learn new skills and adapt to process changes
  • Commitment to continuing education
  • Demonstrated good work performance and attendance history
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills and image quality
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of MRI Safety Principles
  • Effective time management skills, ability to organize work, and set priorities
  • Excellent problem-solving and recognition skills
  • Excellent teaching skills and ability to convey expert job knowledge
  • Effective computer skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including through formal clinical documentation
  • Awareness of hospital emergency codes and procedures required
  • Ability to be trained in the following MRI specializations: cardiac, body, neuro, MSK, breast
  • Ability to work variable shifts and take on-call assignments
