Shop Operations Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Shop Manager to oversee all location maintenance operations and provide shop staff oversight at our Georgetown, ON location.
Main Responsibilities:
- Schedule and administer fleet maintenance, assist in troubleshooting problems with equipment, and communicate availability of vehicles for service with dispatch and other operations personnel.
- Directly supervise shop staff, including hiring, firing, approving salary increases or decreases, training and employee development, planning and directing work, disciplining, handling employee complaints or grievances, and handling performance reviews.
- Work closely with the location manager and region maintenance management to provide status of maintenance and budget requirements, review financial and budget variances, review repair orders or code, and approve account payable documents.
- Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and Company requirements, maintain a safe environment, and ensure all maintenance and related activities are in conformance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Review repair orders, order fuel for vehicles, order parts, and subcontract repair work as needed.
- Initiate and implement projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Ensure maintenance technicians are trained on current operating procedures, properly equipped, and motivated to accomplish the maintenance program in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Supervise bus fueling and arrange services for building and ground keeping as required.
- Complete special projects as assigned and perform hands-on work activities as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
- 5+ years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience required.
- Possess a valid driver's license with required endorsements.
- Good written and oral communication skills, computer skills, and industry experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and school bus equipment preferred.
