Licensed Practical Nurse

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the Wound Prevention and Management Program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating facility and unit-based pressure injury initiatives.
You will work collaboratively with unit and facility-based teams to support education related to existing and new pressure injury prevention strategies. Your primary focus will be on supporting capacity building and being present at the point of care to contribute to advancing pressure injury prevention practice within teams in Central Zone.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in pressure injury prevention practice, program/practice implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education, leadership, and professional practice. You will also exhibit knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that align with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework.
Please note that this position requires travel to facilities within Central Zone, with frequent travel between Halifax Infirmary and Abbie J Lane Memorial Building. Reliable transportation is required.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurses
- Current LPN registration (in good standing) with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
- Minimum of 3 years full-time clinical experience within the last 5 years in an area with exposure to pressure injury prevention and management practices
- BLS-C (HCP) certification
- Working knowledge of best practices for pressure injury prevention
- Evidence of effective interpersonal and communication skills in varied contexts
- Demonstrated initiative and innovative problem-solving
- Skilled in the facilitation of practice development
- Computer skills including Microsoft Suite and computer documentation systems
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
This is a long assignment, full-time position (75 hours bi-weekly) with a duration of approximately 6 months. The successful candidate will be required to work a regular schedule with occasional overtime as needed.
Compensation and IncentivesThe successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $35.11 hourly, with opportunities for advancement and professional growth.
