Island Health is seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) Medical Director to lead the Cowichan Primary Care Network. This role reports to the Executive Medical Director, Cowichan Valley.
About the RoleThe Medical Director will co-lead the network of non-private clinics within the Cowichan Primary Care Network, including Ladysmith Family Practice, Kaatza Clinic, CareBridge Clinic, and the low-barrier Mental Health outreach clinic. They will work collaboratively with the Cowichan PCN Steering Committee to support the growth of team-based care services and strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership: Co-lead and oversee activities to ensure efficient, effective, and integrated program service delivery across Island Health sites.
- Operations & Quality: Establish processes and structures to engage physicians and staff in continuous quality improvement of service delivery.
- Change Management: Co-develop and implement change management plans to engage and support physicians and staff through change.
- Informatics: Oversee activities that advance technology and data use to improve service delivery using the Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Planning: Assess, monitor, and anticipate program resource needs, and work with medical leaders and administrative leaders to prioritize these needs within available resources.
- Collaborative leadership style
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a co-leadership model
- Experience in quality improvement and change management
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
