The Role of Threat Intelligence ResearcherWe're seeking a Senior Security Researcher with deep expertise and a proven track record in delivering successful security research outcomes. As part of our Threat Intelligence Research team, you will work closely with threat intelligence analysts to build new insights and automate the tracking of threat actors through your in-depth knowledge of security product and platform internals.
Your primary focus will be on threat intelligence-based detection through analysis of telemetry sent to the cloud or generated by internal cloud services. This requires a strong desire to work within these systems at significant scale.
Responsibilities- You will design and build new detection capabilities driven by threat intelligence to protect both Microsoft and its customers.
- Discover new threat actor activity and develop automations based on a deep understanding of product internals and telemetry.
- Prioritize 5+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, and/or anomaly detection, OR a Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Lead cutting-edge cybersecurity research projects for at least 5 years.
- Develop security capabilities and tooling in at least one programming language, such as Python, C#, or C++.
- You must meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, which include a Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- 6+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, and/or anomaly detection, OR a Doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience working with large datasets for security research, using SQL or KQL, and a passion for security data.
- Expertise in Identity, Cloud Apps, and Microsoft Cloud-related security research, attacks, threat hunting, and detection.
- Ability to write production-quality code and work on production systems, ideally in C# and running on Kubernetes.
