Elk Point is a picturesque community located within Treaty Six, traditional territory of many Indigenous and Métis people. Nestled in the heart of Alberta's scenic east-central region, Elk Point offers a unique blend of natural beauty and small-town charm.
We have a population of approximately 1,500 residents who enjoy access to various amenities, including an arena, public library, fitness centre, Elk Point Water Spray Park, excellent housing opportunities, schools, and a daycare facility. The community has a range of services, including two grocery stores, several convenience stores, pharmacies, bakeries, clothing and variety stores, and numerous restaurants.
As a Health Care Support Specialist, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working at or out of our 30-bed Long Term Care unit, as well as other departments within our facility. You will provide client care services under the supervision of a regulated healthcare professional, playing a vital role in delivering safe, quality patient and family-centred care that reflects the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
**Job Description:**
You will work collaboratively with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, or healthcare facilities. Your duties will include assisting nurses with routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs. You will also assist with organized activities or programs and observe and report on patients' moods, health, and wellbeing. Working under a regulated healthcare professional, you will contribute to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, and engage in effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
**Required Qualifications:**
Completion of a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Please provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Please attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
**Estimated Salary:** $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
