Quantitative Research Scientist

About the Role:
Our ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or equivalent in infectious disease epidemiology, population biology, mathematics, theoretical physics, computer science or a similar quantitative discipline. They will also possess excellent computing skills, preferably in Python or Matlab, as well as experience with version control, unit tests, and writing clear and readable code. Strong knowledge of epidemiology, deterministic models, and complex individual-based/network models is required. The ability to prioritize work and deliver to tight deadlines, interact with other academics, and develop and apply new concepts is essential.
Benefits:
This is a 1-year contract with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $30.26 per hour, which reflects the standard flat rate for candidates with a Master's Degree. In addition, they will be entitled to medical, dental, vacation, sick leave, and other benefits. Our team works collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare. Responsibilities:
- Design and run simulations of infectious diseases (population level)
- Conduct data analysis
- Estimate model parameters from empirical data
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to identification and release of study data
