Job Summary

The University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Professional Practice Manager to lead the development and implementation of professional practice standards in Acute Care Programs. This is a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and advancing the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement professional practice standards and guidelines for Acute Care Programs
  • Lead the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate practice standards and guidelines across programs and sites
  • Supervise and mentor Advanced Practice Nurse Educators (APNEs) to ensure effective practice and education
  • Develop and maintain strong linkages with UHN's practice-based education office and other stakeholders
  • Establish and lead quality improvement initiatives to promote a vision of practice excellence
  • Mentor diverse staff and learners to enhance their knowledge and skills
  • Engage in organization-wide initiatives to optimize UHN's health information system
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Current registration and good standing with a Regulatory Health Professions College or equivalent
  • Minimum 8+ years of practical and related experience
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining professional practice standards and quality control measures in a healthcare environment
  • Skilled in program evaluation and leveraging data analytics
  • Project Management experience preferred
  • Consulting, influencing, and negotiating skills
  • Ability to think strategically at the global organizational level, as well as at the program, site, unit, and individual levels
  • Broad knowledge of overall hospital structure, operating policies, and decision-making processes
  • Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act, standards of professional practice, and codes of ethics, healthcare consent, and ethical implications of care delivery, as well as evolving scopes of practice
  • Knowledge of health record information systems and various software applications
  • Broad understanding of the healthcare system, related issues, and trends, policies, and legislation provincially, nationally, and internationally
  • Excellent knowledge of quality improvement principles and practices
  • Excellent problem recognition, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse management and employee groups and individuals
  • Ability to adapt to change and implement change management approaches and facilitate their acceptance by others
