Job Title: Steel Stud Framer

Cone Contracting Ltd is seeking a skilled Steel Stud Framer to join our team. As a Steel Stud Framer, you will be responsible for preparing estimates of labour and/or material costs, preparing layouts in conformance to building codes, and measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Prepare tenders and quotations
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
  • Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Supervise other workers
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
Work Environment:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced construction environment with various locations. The role requires a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and physical demands such as bending, crouching, and kneeling.

Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
