Job Title: Associate Vice President, Financial Services Finance

Reporting to the Vice-President (Administration), the Associate Vice-President (Finance) leads all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, planning, budgeting, treasury, procurement, and distribution. In this pivotal role, you will steward the financial health and integrity of the University, safeguarding its assets and maintaining its fiscal viability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial policies, ensuring accountability and compliance.
  • Manage the annual budget process, financial planning, and reporting, presenting to the Board of Governors.
  • Oversee financial audits, maintaining accurate and transparent financial records.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on financial risk management and operational improvements.
  • Engage/liaise with government officials on budgeting and policy matters.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field is required and preference is given to those holding a relevant Master's degree.
  • Minimum 10 years of senior management experience within financial operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial concepts, including budgeting, debt financing, cash flow management, and investment.
  • Understanding of taxation rules, risk management, and insurance industry practices.
  • Knowledge of best practices and technological advancements in financial and supply management operations in a complex environment.
  • Experience in external audit, financial reporting, and managing financial controls within a complex environment.
  • Strategic planning, management, and leadership skills in a high-profile public setting.
  • Politically astute, capable of managing divergent interests.
  • Ability to develop strong alliances and working networks across the organization and with all levels of leadership.
