Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for assigned projects, ensuring timely completion, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and manage project estimates, negotiate changes in scope, and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies and contract specifications.
  • Plan, prepare, monitor, and manage construction schedules and milestones, ensuring seamless project execution.

Work Experience Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry with a contractor.
  • 10+ years of experience working in the utilities and/or civil industry.
  • Proven experience in estimation, strategic procurement, and negotiation.
  • Experience commissioning, integration, and applying QA/QC to projects.
  • Experience mentoring junior and intermediate project managers.
  • Experience with medium and high voltage utility work, roadway lighting, traffic signals, and substations is considered an asset.
  • Experience with P3 and/or design-build projects is considered an asset.
  • Experience in WWTP projects is considered an asset.
Education Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in one of the following is considered an asset:
    • Red Seal Journeyman or Electrical Technologist Degree
    • Construction Management
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
  • The following certifications/designations are considered an asset:
    • P.Eng. Designation
    • PMP Designation
    • Gold Seal Certification
    • Construction safety certifications
  • Experience as a tradesperson in the electrical trade may substitute for education requirements.
Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of:
    • Contract management
    • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
    • Blueprint reading
    • Project structural design interpretation
    • Financial statements – read and comprehend

    • Microsoft Project (required)
    • JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP system

  • Willing and able to travel in British Columbia.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with a clean record required.

The expected salary range for this role is between $110,000 and $130,000. The starting salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package, which includes additional offerings such as vehicle allowance, group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual performance bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
