Job Summary

The University of Saskatchewan seeks a highly skilled Genomics and Transcriptomics Data Analyst to join our Cancer Research Unit. This role will provide critical support to health science researchers in the analysis of large-scale sequencing and genomics data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and analyze genomic and transcriptomic data, including quality assessment and result generation using custom pipelines and workflows.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of large public databases, integrating omics and clinical data to inform research questions.
  • Implement and validate bioinformatic tools and software for specific project analyses.
  • Troubleshoot software and scripts, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain high-performance computing environments for efficient data analysis.
  • Communicate complex results to researchers through clear presentations, figures, and summaries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Bash, and R.
  • Experience with high-throughput sequencing data analysis and integration of public databases.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with software tools such as Ingenuity Pathway Analysis, Bioconductor, and Conda.
  • Proficiency in High-Performance Computing environments.
