About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Derivatives Trader. As a key member of our Capital Markets group, you will be responsible for developing and implementing investment strategies that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of a culture focused on client relationships and leverage the expertise and resources of the Bank to deepen relationships and drive revenue growth.
  • Support the daily operations of structured note issuance, including the preparation of marketing materials, brainstorming, pricing, implementation, and post-issuance activities (maturities, campaigns, post-trade, etc.).
  • Contribute to the daily operations of structured notes, focusing on deepening client relationships and optimizing revenue for the Bank and alternative financing solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members, product partners, and control functions to develop a platform for structured notes and identify opportunities for automation of processes and other ways to improve activities.
  • Ensure that transactions are accurately recorded in the Bank's negotiation systems for covered structured note positions, and facilitate operational support activities for the structured note transaction portfolio.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk management culture apply to daily activities and decisions.
  • Actively seek efficiency in sector activities, respecting the Bank Scotia values, Code of Ethics, and Major Sales Principles, and ensuring the appropriateness, respect, and efficiency of current regulatory controls to meet obligations related to exploitation risk, compliance risk, money laundering risk, terrorist financing risk, and sanctions risk, and conduct risk.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (English/French).

Requirements

  • At least two to three years of relevant work experience in capital markets or financial services. Preferably, experience in equity derivatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field (mathematics, computer science, engineering, statistics, finance, economics, etc.).
  • Understanding of capital markets products, derivative pricing, and structured notes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to present and defend views to an audience with diverse technical expertise.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a performance-driven environment, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Dynamism and ability to work independently, as well as work effectively in a team.
  • Registered representative with the OICR (institutional).

Work Arrangement

It is expected that the incumbent will work at least four days a week in the office. Please note that this may change based on business needs.
