Lead Signalling Designated Project Engineer Opportunity

Matchtech North America is partnering with a key client to support the recruitment of an experienced Sr. Signalling Systems Specialist to work on high-profile railway projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and comment on design deliverables provided by designers, consultants, and suppliers, ensuring general overview and reasonable checking.
  • Lead signal and communication systems life cycle assurance for rail corridors, including conceptual design development, design reviews, and meetings with team members and management.
  • Organize and conduct meetings with team members and management to communicate project requirements associated with Signal and communication systems.
  • Review suitability of evidence from Design, Construction, and Testing and Commissioning teams for verification and validation purposes.
  • Ensure functional coordination across a matrix organization, safety, EHS, and compliance requirements are fulfilled at all times.
  • Lead and coordinate signal and communication activities and stakeholders from transfer to close-out, including Design, Procurement, Installation, T&C, Maintenance, and Warranty phases.
  • Define signal and communication objectives and main drivers to achieve customer satisfaction in the frame of the Contract.
  • Align key project stakeholders with project goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and periodically mobilize a team of engineers to assist with review of design work packages and other submittals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably mechanical, electrical, electronics, or transportation management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in Transit and Railway construction management in Signal and communication system design.
  • Professional Engineer registered in PEO, Ontario.
  • Advanced knowledge of different types of signalling systems, including conventional systems and advanced train control systems (ETCS).
  • Understanding of Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and Signal Design Manual.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Technical Competencies:

  • Experience with System Design lifecycle, requirement management, System and safety assurance (RAMS) in accordance with EN50126.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment (CMREA).
  • Knowledge of Interface Management and the interface between signalling and other systems.
  • Management and leadership skills to provide leadership oversight and coach and mentor staff.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices to lead and direct cross-functional teams and consultants.
