About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at BC Cancer. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive cancer care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Treatment Plans

Assess patient charts, collaborate with healthcare providers, and create personalized therapeutic plans to optimize patient outcomes.

Provide Expert Clinical Guidance

Interact with patients and healthcare teams to ensure appropriate medication therapy, develop discharge plans, and monitor patient compliance with therapeutic plans.

Prepare and Dispense Medications

Ensure accurate and timely preparation and dispensing of medications and pharmaceutical supplies, adhering to relevant federal and provincial legislation.

Provide Education and Support

Offer verbal and written drug information to healthcare professionals, patients, and the lay public, and provide individualized counseling to patients.

Collaborate with Healthcare Teams

Assist with the provision and financial support of non-BCCA benefit medications, and provide information and support to patients, healthcare providers, and external agencies.

Supervise and Mentor

Provide instruction and supervision to pharmacy students and residents, and mentor junior staff members.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy with current registration as a Licensed Pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia, completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program, and one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Competencies

Knowledge and competency in aseptic techniques, use of biological safety cabinets, procedures for safe handling of cytotoxic drugs, strategies for drug information provision, and critical review of medical/paramedical literature.

Personal Qualities

Demonstrated ability to organize work and work independently, commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, and knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities.
