About the Opportunity
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as a teaching assistant for the Biotechnology Applications Laboratory course at Khoury College. This cornerstone course teaches essential concepts in bioprocess engineering using microbial and mammalian cell platforms.
Responsibilities will include performing basic lab skills such as preparing solutions, autoclaving media, maintaining gas lines, and ensuring a safe and operational lab environment. The teaching assistant will also aid the faculty instructor with tasks such as cell culture, HPLC analysis, bioreactor use, gel electrophoresis, and other analytical instruments. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
Under the supervision of the instructor, the teaching assistant will be responsible for attending two sections of lab per week and providing support with instruction, student support, and grading as needed. Must be able to work 20 hours per week.
Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in a life science or related field with relevant experience required.
-Experience with the aforementioned activities and techniques preferred.
-Previous experience working in a research or development academic or industry lab is a plus.
