Come be a part of our dynamic team at Alberta Health Services This regular part-time opportunity will be based out of the Oilfields General Hospital in Black Diamond and will be focused on supporting Rehabilitation programming in the facility, as well as in the community. Our hospital has 15 Acute care beds and 30 Long term care beds. The Therapy Assistant provides rehab services within the Oilfields General Hospital, primarily supporting Acute Care and Long-Term Care, and will also have the opportunity to provide support to outpatient and home care services. The Therapy Assistant functions as an integral member of the inter-professional team. Black Diamond is located approximately 40 minutes southwest of Calgary and has a variety of parks, trails and a golf course. Located on the doorstep of Kananaskis Country, it has easy access to a wide variety of outdoor activities. Reporting to the Rural Allied Health Manager (Adults) the Therapy Assistant will work with our existing rehabilitation team to provide integrated rehabilitation services across the continuum of health services. The Therapy Assistant will support Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech Language Pathology interventions. In addition to performing your clinical roles you will be expected to foster effective relationships within the site and across our rehabilitation teams, and at times participate in quality improvement and program development initiatives within the Rural Calgary zone.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision.
- Work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client-centered care and participation in care teams.
- Demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency.
- Have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.
- Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
- Basic Life Support certificate.
- At least 1 year experience (0.5 FTE or more) working as a Therapy Assistant in acute and/or Long-Term Care setting.
- Experience with equipment set-up and maintenance (e.g. wheelchairs, cushions).
- Previous experience working as a therapy assistant in a home care environment.
- Previous experience working as a therapy assistant with a multi-disciplinary team.
