About the Role:
The Unit Clerk plays a vital role in the efficient administration of the Emergency Department at Alberta Health Services. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will be responsible for managing incoming and outgoing communication, greeting and directing patients and visitors, and maintaining patient records and charts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage telephone calls and coordinate information related to patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Relay and coordinate information related to diagnostic testing, appointments, and patient consults
- Perform administrative tasks, including reception, patient registration, and scheduling
- Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, departments, and patients to ensure seamless communication and care
Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program
- 1 year experience working with computers and applications such as Office and Excel
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
