About the Role:

The Unit Clerk plays a vital role in the efficient administration of the Emergency Department at Alberta Health Services. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will be responsible for managing incoming and outgoing communication, greeting and directing patients and visitors, and maintaining patient records and charts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage telephone calls and coordinate information related to patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Relay and coordinate information related to diagnostic testing, appointments, and patient consults
  • Perform administrative tasks, including reception, patient registration, and scheduling
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, departments, and patients to ensure seamless communication and care

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program
  • 1 year experience working with computers and applications such as Office and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
