Job Summary

The General Repair Technician II is a mid-entry level position responsible for assisting other technicians, performing maintenance and repair, and routine services on non-technical facility components. This role requires a strong focus on maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to established processes and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies, and suggest enhancements and repairs.
  • Perform work in accordance with established processes and practices.
  • Comply with internal and external requirements, including environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Respond to routine service requests and perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Operate facility mechanical, electrical, and other systems.
  • Manage work order life cycles and record resolution data within the service maintenance management database.
  • Assist in implementing preventative maintenance programs and ensuring related documents are maintained.
  • Enhance tenant and customer satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery.
  • Participate in facility-related projects and ensure work is performed in compliance with corporate and legislated policies.
  • Maintain assigned tools and arrange for repair and replacement as needed.
  • Submit expenditures in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience.
  • Knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair non-technical facility components.
  • Strong client-service orientation and a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings and information.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated maintenance and repair skills.
  • Ability to work shifts, be available for on-call/stand-by, and emergency call-outs as needed.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Meet enhanced security clearance requirements.
  • Valid driver's license.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Demonstrate an interest in obtaining a diploma or certificate or be in the process of obtaining one.
  • Meet the requirements for a higher security clearance.
  • Any one of the following is considered an asset: Building Operator Certification or equivalent through an accredited institution, Building Systems Maintenance Certificate (SMC), Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA), Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT), Facilities Technician Certification, Working towards a trade license, or Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1.
