Field Property Claims Specialist, Nova Scotia

About the Role
We're seeking a skilled and experienced Field Property Claims Specialist to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for conducting field inspections to evaluate property damage and providing quality service to our customers. You'll also identify process improvement needs and recommend changes to policies or procedures to maintain quality service and competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections to evaluate property damage and provide quality service to customers.
- Identify process improvement needs and recommend changes to policies or procedures.
- Maintain effective communication channels with claims departments.
- Coach other appraisers and adjusters when required.
- Establish and maintain productive business relationships with repair facilities and other service providers.
- Assist in the screening and review of vendor performance to meet professional and corporate standards.
- Prepare repair estimates and obtain cost agreements from contractors or quotations on restoration/replacement.
- Prepare total loss evaluations and facilitate their disposal, if applicable.
Requirements
- University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.
- Minimum 3 years experience in property claims.
- High-level knowledge of the Xactimate/XactAnalysis estimating software.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mitigation (IICRC), construction, and repair procedures.
- Effective verbal communication skills, with experience in interviewing, coaching others, and dealing with clients.
- Good written communications skills to draft claims reports.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
