We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator to join our Power Generation team at Black & McDonald Limited. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in analyzing costs and preparing estimates for civil engineering, structural, electrical, and mechanical projects.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed estimates of probable costs for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, and specifications.
  • Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, and recommend tender awards.
  • Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers, and architects.
  • Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, and project meetings with the Director Sales & Proposals, Project Manager, and Purchasing.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to prepare economic feasibility studies.
  • Assist with material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs.
  • Identify labour, equipment, material, time requirements, and technical specifications.
  • Assist with the development of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and schedules.
  • Conduct quantity take-off estimates to compute labour and material costs.
  • Work with the project manager to develop overall project budgets and cost baselines.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.

  • Proven experience with industry standards and cost estimating software.
Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements
  • Strong communication, organization, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Available to travel.
  • Computer literacy: MS Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Project, and JD Edwards.
