As a Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and testing of switch-mode power conversion equipment in the 100W to 100kW power range. You will work closely with firmware designers to define project firmware/software requirements and provide technical assistance to customers in support of new product development and legacy product support as required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test switch-mode power conversion equipment
  • Work with firmware designers to define project firmware/software requirements
  • Provide technical assistance to customers
  • Review customer specifications and requirements
  • Assist in the generation of bids and proposals
  • Provide budget, cost, and schedule inputs for engineering projects and job assignments
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services
  • Support program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Develop prototypes to resolve key development risks
  • Generate engineering documentation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in electrical design in a light manufacturing environment
  • P. Eng. designation and eligibility for registration with Engineers NS
  • Familiarity with military and commercial standards to electrical designs
  • Experience reading schematics and engineering specs
  • Demonstrated understanding and interest in power electronics and power converters design
  • Strong ability to analyze, record, and interpret test data
  • Experience in the design, development, modification, and analysis of various electronics systems
