Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Unit Clerk to join our team at Kelowna General Hospital. This permanent part-time position offers a wonderful working environment and opportunities for career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the nursing team, including prioritizing and processing physicians' orders;
  • Act as a communication link for the unit, scheduling and coordinating patient/resident appointments;
  • Assemble and maintain patient/resident charts, inputting data and transcribing information into relevant systems;
  • Clerical duties, including keyboarding, data entry, filing, and preparing reports;
  • Maintain timekeeping records for regular and relief staff and submit to payroll systems;
  • Observe patient/resident call signals and relay messages to the appropriate personnel.
Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12;
  • A current Typing Test of 40 wpm or greater completed within the past 48 months from a recognized institution;
  • A Nursing Unit Clerk Certificate;
  • Ability to keyboard 40 wpm;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to deal with others effectively;
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position;
  • Ability to organize work;
  • Ability to operate related equipment;
  • Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications.
