Empower Simcoe is a leading organization in Simcoe County, dedicated to providing exceptional support services for individuals and families. We are seeking highly motivated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Developmental Support Workers - Specialized Relief, working closely with high-need individuals in Treatment Home and Specialized Resource locations.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients, providing guidance and direct support in areas such as activities of daily living, personal care, communication, emotional, physical, and mental health, safety, finances, and relationship development. Our team members work collaboratively to foster independence and empower individuals to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as part of the support team for individuals supported, utilizing a personal outcome philosophy-based approach to support informed choices and successful goal attainment.
  • Provide guidance and direct support in areas identified as necessary related to activities of daily living, personal care, communication, emotional, physical, and mental health, safety, finances, and relationship development.
  • Support individuals with their budgeting, banking, and purchases, ensuring responsible management of Agency monies.
  • Administer medications and document dispensing in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of safety protocols and implement crisis management techniques, ensuring the health and safety of individuals, staff, visitors, and the community.

Requirements:

  • Community College Diploma in Social Services or a closely related field from an accredited college.
  • Registered Behavioural Technician certificate an asset.
  • Minimum 1 year recent full-time work experience supporting hard-to-serve adults with complex care needs in community residential settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond calmly in crisis situations through approved verbal de-escalation and physical intervention techniques.

Compensation:

A competitive salary of $28.73 per hour, with a minimum of 24 hours per 4-week posting period, comprised of 12-hour shifts. Additionally, a confidential EAP program for employees and their family members is provided.
