About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychologist to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Psychologist, you will work individually and as part of a team to provide psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment intervention to individuals, families, and groups. You will also provide consultations to hospital staff, engage in research and program evaluation, and develop and evaluate new assessment and treatment programs to better meet patient needs.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in Psychology from an educational institution acceptable to the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology. You must be registered or eligible to register with the appropriate regulatory body within the Province of Nova Scotia. Advanced training and experience in child and adolescent mental health are essential. You must have advanced knowledge of the DSM and the ability to use it to assess and diagnose childhood mental health disorders. Diagnostic training and experience, completing mental health assessments and implementing evidence-based treatment plans for children and adolescents, are also required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment intervention to individuals, families, and groups
  • Provide consultations to hospital staff
  • Engage in research and program evaluation
  • Develop and evaluate new assessment and treatment programs
  • Teach and supervise psychology trainees and other health profession learners
Requirements
  • PhD in Psychology from an educational institution acceptable to the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology

  • Advanced training and experience in child and adolescent mental health

Preferred Qualifications
  • Competencies in other languages, French preferred
