This role will report to the Payroll Manager and work closely with the People & Culture department to maintain accurate payroll records, process payroll transactions, and resolve payroll discrepancies.
", "Key Areas of Accountability": "- Data Management
- Verify and transfer pay data prepared by P&C Reps to Autoform for ADP Payroll Administrator.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of semi-monthly Canadian and US Payrolls.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date payroll files for all employees.
- Generate monthly general ledger and payroll reports for Management.
- Responsible for the integrity and update of the payroll subledger including accruals, adjusting journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly reporting and analysis.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including personal information, pay rates, and tax withholdings.
- Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, provincial, and local regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and employment regulations affecting payroll.
- Coordinate all aspects of T4 & T4A processes as well as supplementary annual tax forms required by Revenue Canada.
- Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues from employees.
- Provide information to employees regarding payroll policies and procedures.
- Assist in processing deductions for taxes, benefits, retirement plans, and other withholdings.
- Manage garnishments, levies, and other wage assignments.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure accuracy of payroll transactions.
- Generate payroll reports for management, finance, and P&C departments.
- Use and maintain payroll software and systems.
- Participate in the implementation and testing of new payroll systems or upgrades.
- Handle sensitive employee information with the utmost confidentiality and security.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the payroll function.
- Implement best practices and streamline payroll processes.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in payroll management.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance payroll knowledge and skills.
Skills and Abilities
- Technical Payroll Skills
- Proficiency in managing payroll processing and reporting.
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll regulations and tax laws.
- Knowledge of payroll software and systems.
- Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Access.

- PA designation or equivalent certification in payroll management.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll operations, with a strong understanding of Canadian payroll regulations.
