About the Role

The Corporate Internal Audit Services (CIAS) area aims to improve the efficiency, economy, and accountability of government programs.

As Chief Internal Auditor, you will lead a coordinated and disciplined approach to internal audits for the Government of Alberta.

You will work closely with senior management to evaluate and make recommendations to improve risk management, controllership, accountability, and governance processes.

This role requires strong leadership, consultation, and negotiation skills to develop effective client relationships and build strong teams.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and make recommendations to improve risk management, controllership, accountability, and governance processes.
  • Lead a team to ensure a coordinated and disciplined approach to internal audits.
  • Develop and implement financial controls that support accountability and risk management frameworks.
  • Manage financial and human resources, technology, and information management systems.

Qualifications

  • Extensive related senior management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management and government practices.
  • A Certified Internal Auditor or other audit-related designation is preferred.
  • Equivalencies will be considered.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $132,652 - $174,329 per year, paid bi-weekly at $5,082.46 - $6,679.30.
