Key Responsibilities- Register patients upon arrival, obtain necessary information, and complete registration documentation.
- Prepare and maintain patient charts, including identity bands and related documentation.
- Access HealthNet to determine patient healthcare numbers or assign new ones as required.
- Receive and record patient valuables for safekeeping.
- Provide information to patients regarding payment of charges and medical supplies.
- Act as a communication link within the unit, supporting the flow of patients and information.
- Collaborate with other departments to exchange information related to unit patient appointments.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and tests for unit patients.
- Prioritize, process, and transcribe physicians' orders, performing necessary follow-up action.
- Grade 12 and medical terminology graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program.
- One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, deal with others effectively, keyboard at 40 w.p.m., organize work, operate related equipment, and carry out physical duties.
