About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Chief Compliance Officer to lead our compliance management framework and ensure regulatory compliance across Alterna Savings. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of compliance factors affecting the financial industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and operate the Regulatory Compliance Management Framework to safeguard the organization and support strategic goals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements through policies, guidelines, and processes.
  • Collaborate with all lines of business and corporate oversight groups to maintain a consistent and integrated compliance governance approach.
  • Act as Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) and Chief Anti-Money Laundering Officer (CAMLO).

Main Duties:

  1. Oversee compliance with laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to Alterna Savings' activities in various jurisdictions.
  2. Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to identify, assess, communicate, manage, and mitigate regulatory compliance risk.
  3. Monitor and test the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day compliance in operations.
  4. Provide accountability for Alterna Savings' compliance with privacy laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  5. Manage Alterna Savings' Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing (AML/ATF) regime and maintain it in compliance with applicable laws.
  6. Develop and implement written ongoing training programs for senior management, employees, agents, and other authorized persons.
  7. Maintain an effective ongoing monitoring program using a risk-based approach.

Requirements:

  • University degree in a business-related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in the banking industry and/or compliance management.
  • Professional designation in a compliance-related field or equivalent business experience in a compliance function.
  • Experience as a Privacy Officer and CAMLO.
  • Strong understanding of compliance factors affecting Alterna Savings.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Compensation Package:

The estimated salary for this position is around $120,000 per year, based on industry standards and the required expertise. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
