Psychiatrist - Women's Trauma and Concurrent Program

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Homewood Health Centre Inc. in Guelph, Ontario.
About the Role:This is a full-time opportunity for a Psychiatrist to work in our inpatient Women's Trauma and Concurrent Program. The program is a groundbreaking initiative offering intensive treatment tailored specifically for women* with complex trauma.
The program is delivered on-site at the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, in a collaborative manner, with a supportive interdisciplinary team, which includes nurses, registered psychotherapists, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, music therapists, and horticulture therapists.
Key Responsibilities:- Clinically responsible for assigned patients, including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, monitoring, referral, daily care, and discharge.
- Diagnose and manage psychiatric disorders, including medication management, and referral to the Interventional Psychiatry Service (ECT, rTMS, Ketamine infusion) when appropriate.
- Collaborate with other physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team.
- Complete documentation, including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes, and a comprehensive discharge summary.
- Utilize electronic medical platforms, such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided).
- A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Experience with diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders is preferred.
- Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis, and complex problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital.
- Working knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and the principles of trauma-informed care are welcomed assets.
