Psychiatrist - Women's Trauma and Concurrent Program

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Homewood Health Centre Inc. in Guelph, Ontario.
About the Role:This is a full-time opportunity for a Psychiatrist to work in our inpatient Women's Trauma and Concurrent Program, starting July 2024. The program is a groundbreaking initiative offering intensive treatment tailored specifically for women* with complex trauma.
About the Program:The Women's Trauma & Concurrent program is delivered on-site at the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, in a collaborative manner, with a supportive interdisciplinary team, which includes nurses, registered psychotherapists, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, music therapists, and horticulture therapists.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with other physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team
- Complete documentation, including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes, and a comprehensive discharge summary
- Utilize electronic medical platforms, such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided)
- Ability to provide ECT treatment to patients at the Homewood Health Centre approximately once per month (asset)
- Specialized treatment led by an experienced clinical team, including assessment, stabilization, skills development, trauma processing using Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and discharge planning
- Specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Experience with diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders (preferred)
- Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis, and complex problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital
- Working knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and the principles of trauma-informed care (welcomed assets)
