About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Intermediate Underwriter to join our Contract Surety team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of contract surety accounts, analyzing and securing underwriting data to inform financial and credit risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, including insurance brokers, lawyers, and government officials, to deliver surety solutions and drive business growth.
  • Assess risk and recommend approval of new and renewing contract surety facilities, prioritizing workflow to maximize productivity and meet deadlines.
  • Stay up-to-date on construction industry trends, market conditions, and current challenges and opportunities to provide expert advice and guidance.
  • Travel will be required to meet with clients and attend industry events.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Surety or related business experience, with a strong understanding of financial statements and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
