The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled physician to join our Mental Health and Addiction Program (MHAP) as a 1.0 FTE Addiction Medicine Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative inter-professional clinical team, providing evidence-informed withdrawal management and related mental health and addiction care in an outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality patient care in an outpatient withdrawal management setting
- Work collaboratively with an inter-professional team to deliver comprehensive care
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Conduct assessments and provide diagnoses
- Prescribe and manage medications
Work Environment:
The successful candidate will work a total of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, onsite between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. There may be opportunities to provide virtual care, which can be explored further with discussion with Dr. Martell.
Requirements:
- Medical degree and licensure to practice medicine in Nova Scotia
- Experience in addiction medicine and withdrawal management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
