Inkster Community Child Care Inc is seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Childhood Educator to join our team as a Child Development Specialist. This is a temporary position with an estimated salary of $45,000 per year.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a child care centre environment, providing high-quality early childhood education and care to children aged 0-12 years. As a Child Development Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

  • This includes planning and organizing activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
  • You will also be responsible for supervising staff, trainees or volunteers, and leading activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest.
  • Furthermore, you will assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, order supplies and equipment, and prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A college, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years in Early Childhood Education (ECE).
  • Experience working in a child care centre environment, preferably in a similar role.
  • Certifications such as Child Development Worker (ECE level 2), Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR, Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Training, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate.
