Job Summary

The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aquatics Instructor/Lifeguard to join our team. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality swim lessons and lifeguarding services to our members and program participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver swim lessons to children and adults of all ages and skill levels
  • Provide lifeguarding services during swim lessons, recreational swim times, and special events
  • Ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with members, program participants, and colleagues
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain certification-level currency
Requirements
  • Minimum 16 years of age (16-17 years under supervision of 18+year old lifeguard)
  • Lifeguard Certifications: Intermediate First Aid, CPR-C & AED, Lifesaving National Lifeguard (NL)
  • Instructor Certifications: Intermediate First Aid, CPR-C & AED, Lifesaving Swim Instructor (SI) or YMCA Swim Instructor (YSI)
  • Ability to obtain Oxygen Administration (O2) with 6 months of hire date
  • Ability to maintain certification-level currency without expiry, as well as physical and mental readiness
